The word “trauma” originates from the Greek word for “wound.” Just as physical wounds cause pain and distress, psychological wounds can lead to emotional suffering. If left untreated, these wounds can worsen over time. Counselling can help clients navigate these difficult experiences and heal from them.
Trauma is a deeply personal experience that is, unfortunately, universal. Whether it’s childhood abuse, rape, divorce, car accidents, or job loss, these overwhelming events disrupt our lives and completely alter our perception of ourselves, others, and the world as we know it.
